Happy Birthday, Sophie! The big 7! Monday was Sophie's birthday. We didn't get a lot of schooling accomplished, but did some science and art. Sophie got a crystal making kit for her birthday. She loves rocks and especially the shiny ones. : )
After starting the experiment, we created a science experiment journal. When she checks out the jar every morning, she draws a picture of it in her journal and writes about what it looks like. For reading, we have created a list of books in Epic to read about crystals.
Our next item in schooling was art. It is Holy Week, so we added a decoration to our front door.
After science and art, we didn't do much but have fun. She got to pick her favorite food for dinner (macaroni and cheese) and got ice cream for dessert. Overall, a great day for a 7 year old.
Tuesday, today, was a gorgeous summer day. High of 81 degrees. We were outside from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. We played in the creek behind grandma and grandpa's house, we rode bikes, we rode scooters, we took walks, we even played in the sprinkler.
Not going to have a warm day like this for a bit of time, so we took advantage. Not much schooling took place today. Just lots of vitamin D.
Grad school final projects have started. My goal is to be done with this class by the weekend. It's a lofty goal, but who needs sleep anyway? Maybe a better goal would be by Monday of next week. Ready to be done with this round of classes. The shift to online classes didn't affect grad school.
I felt good today. Needed the time outside. Needed the normalcy.
Much love.
