Busy week. Lots to fill you in on, so here we go. Thursday, I helped deliver meals at CCA. The school district is continuing to feed students who want breakfast and lunch 5 days a week. Every weekday, 12 vehicles are dispersed around the district to hand out meals at varying locations. The whole thing is a well oiled machine. Our fantastic food staff prepares all of the food, bags it up and sends us out to be delivered. We are screened for any type of sickness, have to wear masks and gloves at all times and carry hand sanitizer in the vehicles. Incredible service the district is providing. Sophie's schooling was delayed a few hours while I did this. We started our school day with Lunch Doodles with Mo and she got to play her favorite made up game "Super Bounce". She made the game board all by herself this time.
After our few games, we practiced for our spelling test and finished some math homework. Schooling was pretty "lite" today. The day was a bit cold and dreary. Didn't get to go outside much. We were definitely starting to feel the effects of being inside too long. She got some putty as a birthday present, and went to town. I think we've been inside too long. Everything is hilarious.
On Friday, we had a spelling test and lots of outside time. It wasn't terribly warm, but we needed the exercise. I got to see my students on Friday too! Just through video chatting, but it was nice to see their faces. Miss them a lot. Wish I had more answers for them, but we're all in this together! We have made the Friday chats a regular part of the schedule now. Miss them so much.
Saturday was birthday party preparations. Sophie made a cake and we played outside a ton. I believe I am a bit sunburned from all of the outside time this weekend. Sunday was Sophie's "party". Hard to believe she is already 7. John had the band kids send happy birthday video messages to Sophie. She loved seeing all of mommy's "people". It was very sweet.
Sophie also has been getting birthday cards from all over. Brad put out a message on Facebook asking friends to send a note to Sophie because of her cancelled school party and friend party. Almost 50 cards or notes were sent, and we displayed them on the closet door and the front door. She has loved re-reading all of the cards. First round of thank you notes go out on Monday. She's one blessed little girl.
Our final project for the weekend was a poster of all of her Lunch Doodles with Mo. He has stopped his doodling series. She wanted to tape them all to her wall, but we thought this would be better for her (and the wall). We will have to find something else to do during our lunchtime break at school. Maybe another author will start a lunch doodles series. It has definitely been a light in this darkness.
Wishing everyone a good coming week. I'm not sure if it's the boredom or the thought of the unknown to come, but insomnia is starting to be an issue. I need to make sure I stay active and keep busy throughout the day. My poor dog doesn't know what to do either. I'm sure he's thinking "Y'all need to leave the house, cause you're cutting into my precious nap time."
Stay well.
