Diary of a Band Director - Homeschool Day 10 & 11

One word describes these past 2 days. BEAUTIFUL! Felt like early summer, late spring days. We spent most of our time outside. We completed all the work that we HAD to do, but we made sure to soak up as much vitamin D has possible.

Sophie officially learned how to ride her bike without training wheels! She is very excited, and wants to ride her bike constantly. With the weather the way it is, I don't mind. She turns 7 on Monday! It's hard to believe she is that old already. She is an amazing little nugget.

Started some money counting in math. This wasn't a part of what she has been doing in her actual schoolwork, but she couldn't identify a nickel vs. a dime. SO, we are working with coins this week, adding, subtracting and identifying both sides of the coins.

Had many Zoom meetings these past 2 days. Trying to stay current on what is happening throughout the state of Iowa in music ed. Quarantine Concert Series - Concert #2 dropped yesterday. These things are holding me together right now. I. NEED. BAND.

I hope you all have something in your life that keeps you invested. It's hard right now. I know that I could be pouring everything that I have into my daughter, and for the most part I am. But, this is what "fills my cup". Small joys. Unfortunately, this probably won't be enough forever. I need to get back to teaching band.

Stay well.
